Becky Yin

tempo yoga (46)

Yoga, Pilates Instructor & Thai Massage Practitioner

Over the years, Becky searched for a form of exercise that married strength, flexibility and cardio.  This search led her to many gyms and various sports. After experimenting with different styles of exercises, Becky stumbled upon the doorsteps of a yoga studio and started her dedicated yoga practices in 2009.  She earned her 200 hour certificate through Yoga Space focusing on Hatha and Vinyasa, and she’s currently taking Advanced Teacher Training at Downward Dog Yoga Center.

Becky has the privilege of studying with Bryan Kest, Seane Corn, Diana Bruni and Marla Meenakshi Joy.  In 2015, she has broadened her horizons and engaged in direct study with Gymnastic Bodies and Agatsu Inc.  Inspired by all she gained from her strength training education, Becky’s class blends strength, mobility and mindfulness.

“What I like most about yoga is that there’s never an ‘end’, the student who can do a headstand has just as much to learn as the student who can’t touch his/her toes.” – Becky

Nicole Lau

Nicole's profile pic

Yoga Instructor & Thai Massage Practitioner

Nicole’s journey on the mat began in 2006.  It first started as a physical activity, but soon yoga became the central focus of her life journey.  She sees yoga as an incredible way for looking at the connection between the mind, body and soul.  Nicole then completed her certified yoga teacher’s training in Baja, Mexico, and she is constantly expanding her training with different teachers and studios, especially in Yin yoga, which is her true passion after years of practice.

Nicole is a certified Thai yoga massage practitioner, trained in Toronto and Ching Mai, Thailand.  With over 500 hours of training between yoga and Thai yoga massage, she believes yoga is not only a form of exercise for health.  “The asana (exercise) gives us health by working the physical body, and thereby opening channels for prana (life force) to flow and to stabilize the mind and soul.”  In her classes, she is humbling honoured to share her experiences with everyone, and hopes everyone can accept whatever physical condition he or she may be in, feels blissful about his or her body, and discovers his or her own “yoga”.  Her classes are suitable for all ages, with well-balanced of meditation, pranayama (breathing) and asana (exercise).

Jaye Sim

Yoga Instructor & Thai Massage Practitioner

Jaye was born in Hong Kong, had studied in the United Kingdom, and finally settled in Toronto in 1997. Her early life had always been around Arts.

Her extensive training as a Ballerina as well as a musician had led her to studying Fine Arts in university. In 2005, Jaye began her yogic journey. Throughout the years, she practiced various styles of yoga as a stress reliever and a work out in addition to the gym until she discovered Ashtanga Yoga and fell in love with its intensity.

She began practicing yoga exclusively. As her love for yoga grew, she became very intrigued about its history, philosophy, meditation, mantras etc. With the support from her wonderful yoga teacher Eric Anderson, Jaye finally pursued her Yoga Teacher Training at Downward Dog Yoga Centre with renowned yoga teachers including Ron Reid and Marla Meenakshi Joy.

Jaye is passionate about sharing her practice with anyone who is searching for something in life. Her classes emphasize on mindfulness; challenging the mind to stay focused through precise breathing and maintaining proper alignment, while cultivating physical and mental strength.

“Yoga is about being able to utilizing what I have learnt through my training to unite with others, to serve and empower them, to guide them on how to love and honour their minds and bodies, and to improve their mental and spiritual well-being.”

Sandra McDowell

Sandra

Yoga Instructor

For over 25 years Sandra has been enamored with the process that is yoga. In 2003 she took her first teacher training, followed a few years later by immersion teacher training at the renowned Kripalu Center and most recently Yin yoga training with Bernie Clark in 2013.   She feels yoga has allowed her to become stronger, more resilient, free and flexible, on and off the mat. Her goal is to entice others to find the same in themselves by nurturing their bodies, minds and hearts.

Yoga is about interconnections. We look inside ourselves with compassionate attention to the physical, emotional, psychological and the divine breath that weaves it all together. Staying present to these aspects of ourselves allows us to heal, grow and thrive.

If you enjoy relaxing while you stretch, open and tone, you’ll leave these calming classes feeling refreshed, balanced, nourished and maybe even inspired.

Yana Pasternak

Her love for the practice grew each day and changed her life completely.  To deepen her practice, she completed her first teacher training in Toronto in 2013.  Upon graduation from her University studies, she embarked on an unforgettable journey to India.  She spent a total of 6 months in little villages in the Himalayan ranges of India completing another teacher training and several yoga training certificates.  Yana is trained in Hatha, Vinyasa, Ashtanga and Yin.  Yoga is her absolute passion and her mission is to spread the love for it with everyone she meets, as well as help inspire her students to live a happier, healthier and more positive life.

Mallory Cheung

Barre & Pilates Instructor

Mallory was a ballerina for most of her life and was examined and passed by the Royal Academy of Dance at the Advanced Foundation level. She also competed and placed in both national and international competitions.

Over the years, Mallory has practiced yoga and Pilates and was trained in the East to West Pilates Instructor course. She unsurprisingly fell in love at the barre again and is certified by BootyBarre. Mallory enjoys barre for its ballet foundation and how it incorporates cardio, strengthening and flexibility into one great workout.

Ballet is often viewed as an exclusive practice that has to begin at an early age. She enjoys teaching barre as it is an open workout that shares components of ballet with every age group. Her classes always incorporate a dancer’s experience, but with high tempo music and a great energy, you can expect a fun full body workout. She loves stretching and helping clients in improving their flexibility and learning to stretch safely.

“Ballet is the art, barre is its workout.”
