Coming to yoga with a martial arts background, Eric brings his knowledge of movement and flexibility to each class. Eric’s class is strong, dynamic and inspired by the Ashtanga tradition that links breath with movement. His class focuses on alignment while building strength, flexibility and internal heat to purify mind and body. Postures include standing, balancing, seated folds, twists, as well as exploration of arm balances, backbends and inversions. Modifications, variations and hands-on adjustments are offered throughout.

Eric believes that by maintaining a mindful approach to their practice students can transform themselves physically, mentally and spiritually. As we face and overcome obstacles on our mat we build the strength and focus to overcome any obstacles we face off the mat.

Eric continues to further his practice at Downward Dog Yoga Centre with his teachers Ron Reid and Marla Meenakshi Joy.

Meditation & Pranayama Workshop

Date:  Friday April 29th, 2016
Time: 7:45pm – 9:00pm
Investment: $25 + hst, 10% Early Bird discount ends April 22nd
Pre-registration Required @ the studio or ONLINE

7:45 pm Community Class will be canceled.

We will explore different breathing techniques, that you can apply during your yoga practice, in your every day life or in specific situations to soothe, calm and center yourself.  We will discover pranayama and meditation practices that can be integrated into your daily practice to reduce stress and expand consciousness.

There are many gifts that meditation offers including the obvious physical benefits of stress reduction, better sleep and improved health, but most that begin this process seeking self-help find that the real strength of meditation is the greater self awareness or inner understanding we develop. Our journey of self-discovery begins with the sacred art of meditation.

This workshop is supplemented with guided exercises and reflections for bringing the practice into daily life.  This course is suitable for anyone wanting to try meditation for the first time and also for regular meditators interested in exploring meditation more.  You’ll learn how to observe your breath to help calm down and concentrate the mind.

About Teacher:

Andrew has been practicing meditation since 1981, and has been teaching meditation to small groups since 2010.  As a devoted practitioner, he’s striving to help individuals to find their own natural entry points into stillness and deep liberation. He teaches to help individuals realize their full potential for clarity, balance, kindness and wisdom. His teaching nourishes the natural inner growth of compassion and wisdom.

Nicole believes we cannot separate pranayama from the asana practice, all postures are led by our breath.  Practicing pranayama has always been an important part of Nicole’s daily yoga practice.  After years of training and self-practice, Nicole learned the art of inhaling, exhaling and retaining along with different techniques and skills. She is grateful to share the experience with everyone.

“Pranayama is control of Breath. Prana is Breath or vital energy in the body.” – Quote from www.yogapoint.com.
